Words of Wisdom - Truth

Bondage Only a Dream

How to awaken! How to be resurrected from this death consciousness? We are like the dead who do not know they be dead, like dreamers dreaming a terrible tale of loss and wandering, unaware they are dreaming. For in truth our bondage is only a dream, our ignorance only an illusion. But what agony we must endure before the dream breaks, before the illusion fades.

C
ontemplating the Truth

How do we gain truthfulness in this world of untruth?

By contemplation of the Truth itself! By the systematic contemplation of the Divine—the eternal and absolute reality. Otherwise, we are caught in the labyrinth of the untruth-grounded world of our environment, and there is no way out.

By subduing the untruth-oriented mind during meditation, the rivers of Truth drawn from the mind’s own spiritual center—the center of our being—will pour through that mind.

Truth: The Highest Principle (Essay)

Truth …? We hear much of this from Christ, Buddha, the Hindu texts … from all philosophers.
Christ’s words to Pilate: “I have come to bear witness to the Truth.”
Buddha: “Truth is Life.”
Upanishads (main Vedantic scriptures): Constant emphasis on the Truth.
As though there really is one saving, eternal, universal Truth of being that will enlighten and free us forever!
Is there?

Truth is Life

Buddha: Truth is Life, and self is Death.

Meditate to discover what that self is and why it is our enemy. Meditate further to discover what that Truth is and why it is our Life.

Without meditation, the self that is death tends to dominate our lives. With meditation we gradually come to gain control over it at least ... and the hope awakens that the Buddha-nature, the Great Self, the Truth, the Christ Consciousness, may emerge in time.

In any event, vibrations from the Great Self guide us in our new endeavor.

The Knowledge of Truth

"When one knows what the truth of one's situation truly is, then and then alone one is free of what was binding and terrifying us. The spell breaks, the dream vanishes, the ignorance that constituted our lack of freedom―rather, our nonawareness of freedom―dissolves. But only Knowledge―the truth―can bring it about―and the realization that we always possessed it...."
                                              - Paul Hourihan , Ramakrishna and Christ, The Supermystics , 117

The Light of Truth

The knowledge of God, directly experienced, the experience of the Divine within, takes us beyond the realm of the oldest or latest religion, into the realm of pure Truth itselfthe bright, steady, undying light which is the source of every religion and long after each one of themhowever promising they were at the outsetbegins to change, remains still as bright, as steady, as luminous, as undying as ever ... yesterday, and today, and forever ... the light of the divine ... the Soul's own light ... that which we now are and one day will discover ourselves to be.

Truth and the World

Of all the delusions the world imposes on us the worst is to make us believe it is an arena where Truth may be found.

"For here we have no continuing city...."    -Saint Paul.

Use the world to strengthen your mind and personality, deepen your understanding. Use the world for an education and a schoolroom, but never believe in its realityit has none. Our kingdom is not of this world. We find ourselves in it, that is all.

If we only knew what we were, what we could do, what we might be!

The Truth Shall Make You Free

We are now in non-freedom, bondage, due to some ignorance of which we are ignorant! Like a dream, convincing us of its reality, though not actually real. So our ignorance, our bondage is not real either, never was―that precisely is what the experience of Truth reveals. We awake from the dream, the nightmare, the unreal. The experience will simply make us know the Truth, namely: we are now free, always have been, the bondage an illusion. So our bondage is an untruth, unreal, a phantom.

The Highest Thought

The highest thought you can entertain is from God.
It will be tentative, strangeyour mind is unaccustomed to it.
But its truth will be feltwill be self-authenticating.
